Alfred Phillipe, Crown Trifari Dress Clip - Vintage 1940s, Shoe Button Pearls

Item: 1183

Designed by Alfred Phillipe for Trifari, this lovely old dress clip features five teardrop shoe button faux pearls with twining rhinestone sprays. Shoe button stones were designed and developed by Alfred Phillipe in the late 30s, and were named shoe buttons because of their resemblance. The back of the dress clip is stamped Trifari with crown. In the 1940s Trifari patented an alloy they called Trifanium which they used for plating their jewelry. Trifanium contained a combination of metals and more than eight times the industry standard for gold and silver. Trifanium gave their jewelry the look of real, and made their jewelry long lasting. Combining this with their beautiful designs, is the reason Trifari jewels will always be collectible. Measures 1 3/8 x 1.5. Fair to good condition. One pearl has some luster loss, see picture #5. Some of the rhinestones are beginning to cloud. The plating is in very good condition. Circa 1940s
