Egyptian Faience Scarab Ring 800 Silver - Vintage 1950s Size 8.5

Item: 1120

This authentic Egyptian turquoise faience scarab ring is set in 800 silver and marked with the Egyptian 800 silver mark, the lotus flower and a date stamp on the ring shank. The hand worked decorative border surrounding the scarab is also marked with the Egyptian mark for 800 silver. This is a fine collectible. Scarab jewelry was all the rage in the 1940s - 1950s, being inspired by the discovery of the treasures of King Tuts tomb. The Egyptian symbol of rebirth and regeneration, the scarab has been a treasured amulet since ancient times. It is commonly believed good luck and fortune come to those who wear scarab talismans. The ring is a size 8.5. The silver border measures 21mm x 17mm from edge to edge. Good condition. Circa 1950s - 1960s. The ring has a date stamp; however, the Egyptian date stamps are often not reliable or standard, which is why I have given a broad range to the circa date primarily based on design and workmanship.
