Italian 800 Silver Ornate Minaudière Compact - Vintage 1948

This is an exquisite old vintage minaudière compact made in Florence Italy during the 1940s. Crafted in 800 silver, every side of the compact is ornately carved and engraved. Truly a piece of art! The lipstick is pushed in to open the lid, revealing an inner compartment meant for powder, and puff. The lipstick holder pulls out by pushing the button toward the edge of the compact and pulling the lip out. Lipstick, powder, and puff are no longer a part of the compact. The mirror in the lid is mostly missing the reflective silver backing, revealing a piece of Italian newspaper dated May 1, 1948 behind the class. What a time capsule! The compact is marked 800 with the silversmith #, and province hallmark of Firenze (Florence). What a wonderful gift for the collector of beautiful objects! Measures 3 3/16 x 2 3/8 x 11/16.
