Sugar Bead Millinery Corsage Brooch - Vintage 1940s

Item: 714

This rare find from famed Boston department store, C. Crawford Hollidge is a ladies winter coat millinery brooch. Crafted as a spray of red berries made of glass sugar beads, wrapped and finished with a green velvet leaf, this corsage brooch is a beautiful vestige of a time gone by. This brooch comes with the original paper bag stamped with logo in blue ink, and C. Crawford Hollidge Boston. C. Crawford Hollidge began as a dry goods store in the 1920s, and quickly became known for its ladies high end fashion, and impeccable customer service. Its store on Tremont and Temple Place in Boston was a destination store for finely dressed ladies until it was destroyed by fire in 1967. Measures 4 x 2. The paper bag measures 6.5 x 4. Very good condition. Appears not to have been worn. The velvet leaf has a fragile feel but does not appear to be loose. The bag is very wrinkled, but still in amazing condition considering age and that its made of paper. Circa 1940s.
