Turtle Brooch, Myked Handmade Copper & Glazed Ceramic
Item: 693
This is an exceptional quality mid century copper and glazed ceramic turtle brooch. Signed Myked Handmade. I suspect this copper jewelry maker was inspired by the ceramics of the Elzac company. The glazed ceramic turtle shell is a lovely teal or green turquoise color, which compliments the warmth of the copper beautifully. The copper legs and feet are subtly stippled and the neck is artfully wrapped with wire. I found this vintage turtle brooch in a quaint antique shop in a small southern town, and knew immediately this was a treasure. Measures 2.5 x 1.75. Very good condition, with some loss of glaze and minor chipping on the ceramic shell, primarily along the shell edge. Im happy to send additional pictures upon request. Circa 1950s
