Vintage Natural Black Antipatharian Coral Necklace with Black Onyx

This striking vintage statement necklace is strung with natural Antipatharian black branch coral, and finished with 6mm black onyx beads. This type of coral is highly regulated in its harvesting and is found in the deep ocean waters around Hawaii making it rare and hard to come by. The coral is light weight and has the textured shark skin like surface as is typical for unprocessed coral of this type. Secured by a silver twisted rope toggle clasp. The coral section measures 17 1/2 x 3, with the total length of the necklace being 27 1/2. Very good condition.
