Vintage Scrimshaw Lighthouse Tall Clipper Ship

This beautiful vintage scrimshaw brooch depicts the West Quoddy Head lighthouse in Lubec, Maine in exquisite detail, and subtle color. Situated on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the lighthouse stands ready to protect the tall mast clipper ship flying the American flag. The West Quoddy Head lighthouse sits proudly on the eastern most point of the United States, and has offered its protection to sailors since 1808. It remains a working lighthouse. The scrimshaw brooch is bezel set in 1/20 12K gold filled with rope edging, and also has a small bail allowing it to be worn as a pendant. This is a wonderful piece for anyone with Maine ties, or a collector of scrimshaw. Measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/8. Very good condition.
